This was kinda fun - a friend of mine told me of an opportunity to help with a race sponsored by The North Face. Seems they needed some folks to watch their stuff overnight before the 6am scheduled start of the race. In return for providing night security for their aid stations, we'd get a free tent. Not a bad deal!There wasn't really an ideal spot to pitch my tent, plus it was raining on and off, so I decided to spend the night in my truck. Around 3:30am, a couple rental trucks arrived. I helped the guys unload 648 gallons of drinking water. Just before 5am, some of their staff arrived to start setting up the aid station. I got to help with that until almost 6:30am and the first of the runners had come through.
